Awarded Texas families can use their TEFA vouchers for PK–5 reading, math, handwriting, and homeschool support through the Odyssey marketplace — in person in Boerne or online anywhere in Texas.
What is TEFA?
Texas Education Freedom Accounts for approved tutoring
The Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program gives eligible families an education savings account to pay for approved expenses — including private tutoring and academic assessments.
Growing Ready Learners does not administer TEFA. Eligibility, award amounts, and application dates are managed by the Texas Comptroller.
How to pay with TEFA
Use your Odyssey account to pay for sessions
TEFA purchases must go through the Odyssey marketplace.
Log into your Odyssey TEFA account
Use the login credentials from your TEFA award notification to access your account and marketplace.
Search for Growing Ready Learners
In the Odyssey marketplace, search for "Growing Ready Learners". You'll see single-session options and multi-session packages under our name.

Approved TEFA expenses include private tutoring. Families use their TEFA vouchers with us for reading, math, handwriting, and homeschool support — in person or online.

Phonics, fluency, and comprehension support that finds the skill that's actually missing.
Math
Number sense, place value, and problem-solving support that fills gaps instead of chasing grade-level homework.
Handwriting
Letter formation, spacing, and writing stamina using Learning Without Tears.
Homeschool support
Daytime sessions matched to your curriculum and tailored to your child's exact needs.

Odyssey may also list session packages — for example, a five-session in-person package — in addition to single sessions.

TEFA and tutoring with us
- Do I pay Growing Ready Learners directly?
- No. TEFA vouchers must be used through the Odyssey marketplace. Add a tutoring option to your cart there, and we'll reach out to schedule — you do not pay us directly.
- Can I use TEFA for online tutoring?
- Yes. TEFA vouchers can pay for online tutoring anywhere in Texas, as well as in-person sessions at our Boerne center.
- What if I'm on the waitlist?
- If you haven't received an award yet, you can't use TEFA vouchers until your account is funded. Join the official interest list for updates about future application cycles.
- What if my child needs ongoing tutoring?
- Many families use TEFA for recurring sessions. Add the option that fits in Odyssey and we'll reach out to schedule — there's no long-term contract.
- What if checkout doesn't work?
- We'll help you troubleshoot checkout issues. Contact us.
