How it works
Start with the missing skill, not homework
Most tutoring starts at grade level. We start with the skill that’s blocking everything else — then we stay there until reading feels easier.
01
Find the missing skill
The assessment shows whether the holdup is hearing sounds, phonics, or fluency — not “3rd-grade reading.” You get a plain-language summary of the gap and the plan to fix it.
02
Practice the right thing
Ongoing sessions are live with a certified teacher. Short, correct practice with immediate feedback — on a kid-friendly platform with a shared whiteboard and games.
03
Stay until it feels easy
We don’t pile on harder books until the foundation no longer takes so much effort. When that skill feels easy, we move forward.
Who this is for
Built for kids who are stuck in reading
- Behind in class, or avoiding reading aloud
- Guessing from pictures, or phonics never clicked
- Dyslexia, or a teacher has flagged a reading concern
- Already tried generic homework-help tutoring
What parents say
Trusted by Texas families
- Texas-certified teachers
- LETRS-trained
- Dyslexia Coach
- 12+ years teaching
- 40+ local students
“We have tried other tutoring services, but none of them have come close to providing the encouragement, focus, and guidance that GRL has.”
“We've seen real progress not only in academics, but also in our child's attitude toward learning. Ms. Alison genuinely cares about my child's success and well-being.”
Inside an online session
Young kids can do this online
Students meet face-to-face with a teacher on a platform built for little learners — sticky notes, drawing tools, rewards, and games in every lesson.

A live teacher, not a video
Your child works with a Texas-certified teacher in real time — including Ms. Amy, who tutors online — with a LETRS-trained team and Dyslexia Coach credentials behind the instruction.
Built to keep them engaged
Interactive whiteboard, games, and short bursts of practice so a PK–5 learner stays with it.
Simple setup
A computer or tablet and a quiet spot. For younger children, a parent nearby for the first sessions is enough.
Common questions
Before you book
- Is the assessment one-on-one?
- Yes. Your child meets live with a certified teacher — not a pre-recorded program or a group session.
- How soon will we see progress?
- Many families notice less resistance and more confidence within a few weeks once we are practicing the right missing skill. The assessment tells you exactly where to start.
- Will my 6-year-old sit still for a screen?
- Sessions are short, interactive, and built for young learners — games, whiteboard activities, and a live teacher who keeps them engaged. Many parents sit nearby for the first sessions.
- Do you work with dyslexia?
- Yes. Our founder is a Dyslexia Coach with LETRS training. We identify the specific skill gap — phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency — rather than labeling by grade level.
- Is there a contract?
- No long-term contract. Families book sessions as needed and can stop anytime.
- What do we need to log in?
- A computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, a quiet spot, and a stable internet connection. We send simple login instructions when your assessment is scheduled.
