Your child completes a short check-up on their own — no one from GRL on the call. For younger children, a parent nearby is enough.

Get a teacher summary within 24 hours
A Texas-certified, LETRS-trained teacher reviews the results and sends a plain-language summary of the gap — hearing sounds, phonics, or fluency — not “3rd-grade reading.”

Practice the right thing live
If you continue, live sessions with a certified teacher practice that skill until it feels easy. The $35 comes off your first session — so the check-up costs you nothing.

Before you request the check-up
- Does someone from GRL sit with my child during the check-up?
- No. Your child takes the reading check-up at home on their own. For younger children, a parent nearby is enough. A certified teacher reviews the results afterward — not during the check-up.
- When do I get the summary?
- Within 24 hours of your child finishing the reading check-up. A Texas-certified, LETRS-trained teacher sends a written summary of the skill that’s blocking them.
- What am I paying $35 for?
- The at-home reading check-up plus a teacher’s written summary of the exact skill gap. If you continue with tutoring, the $35 comes off your first session — so the check-up costs you nothing (Covers a 30-minute session, or $35 off an hour).
- How soon will we see progress?
- Many families notice less resistance and more confidence within a few weeks once we are practicing the right missing skill. The check-up tells you exactly where to start.
- Will my 6-year-old sit still for tutoring online?
- The at-home check-up is short. Live tutoring sessions are interactive — games, whiteboard activities, and a live teacher who keeps them engaged. Many parents sit nearby for the first sessions.
- Do you work with dyslexia?
- Yes. Our founder is a Dyslexia Coach with LETRS training. We identify the specific skill gap — phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency — rather than labeling by grade level.
- How does TEFA work here?
- We accept TEFA funds for tutoring and the reading check-up through the Odyssey marketplace. Tell us you're using TEFA when you book and we'll walk you through payment. See our TEFA page.
- How does PASS work here?
- We are an approved PASS service provider for reading tutoring. Apply on the official PASS portal if your child qualifies, then book with us and pay through ClassWallet. Tell us you are using PASS when you schedule. See our PASS page.
- Is there a contract?
- No long-term contract. Families book tutoring sessions as needed and can stop anytime.
